About the Author

David L. Weiner (Chicago, IL) is considered an expert on the biology of human irrationality. He is the author of four popular psychology books, which he wrote with assistance from the University of Wisconsin's Department of Psychology, number one in the nation in federal research awards received.

Three of his books were psychology bestsellers: Battling the Inner Dummy: The Craziness of Apparently Normal People (also published in China, Spain and Latin America... and in Braille), Power Freaks: Dealing with Them in the Workplace or Anyplace, and Reality Check: What Your Mind Knows But Isn't Telling You. He is also the author of Brain Tricks: Coping with Your Defective Brain.

Weiner serves on the external board of advisors for the Health Emotions Research Institute of the University of Wisconsin, Madison. The institute seeks to use state-of-the-art scientific methods developed for the study of illness to study the relationship between positive emotions and health. Weiner was also instrumental in founding the Scientific Society for the Study of Psychopathy, after sponsoring a symposium and conference featuring the top academics worldwide in the field.
